Sol-Gel Coatings
AG Sol-Gel Coatings
The sol-gel process is a wet-chemical synthesis process for the production of high-purity nanoscale ceramic materials. Fundamentally, the process enables material systems of defined composition to be realized with optimally mixed educts at the molecular level. Due to the very small particle sizes, it is also possible to sinter the synthesized ceramic powder with lower energy input. In addition to saving energy, this enables new areas of application at lower temperatures. In addition, the liquid initial state of the reaction products opens up a broad spectrum of coating technologies from dip/spray coating to electrophoretic deposition. The focus of the Sol-Gel Coatings group lies on the development of novel material systems and coating methods. This potential enables the solution of current scientific problems as well as the optimization of industrial applications.
