Aachen, September 6, 2023 – The Chair of Glass and Glass Ceramics PhD students at RWTH Aachen University convened for an engaging and enlightening seminar from September 5th to 6th, 2023. Coordinated by Dr. Jacobs and Dr. Prange and led by Professor Roos, the two-day event took place at the Wildenhof on the shores of Rursee in the Eifel region.
The seminar commenced with warm words of welcome fromProf. Roos, who inaugurated the first day of the seminar with a brief introductory presentation. This marked the beginning of a series of presentations in which the PhD students introduced their current research topics, providing an opportunity for idea exchange, problem-solving, and discussion of their future research plans.
The event unfolded on the premises of the Wildenhof, which proved to be an ideal setting for a blend of academic discussions and recreational activities by Rursee. The pleasant atmosphere allowed for activities such as volleyball and table tennis and refreshing swims in the clear lake, on a day with an outdoor temperature of 30 °C.
In the evening, everyone gathered for a convivial time, concluding the day with cool beverages and a barbecue, extending into late-night conversations. These informal gatherings strengthened team cohesion and promoted interdisciplinary exchange.
The Rursee 2023 PhD student seminar was unanimously regarded as a thoroughly positive event. The opportunity to engage both academically and socially was deemed highly enriching by all participants. Due to the favorable feedback, the chair plans to host the seminar again next year, continuing to provide a valuable opportunity for shared learning and networking.
